Hana and Ro’s story begins like this: with a fight. A supermarket.
A broken door to a grimy bathroom. An electric piano and eight plants with names. Like all things, it’s tacky and awkward. But also beautiful. It’s normal. Throughout that summer, Hannah thinks to herself: “this could last forever.” Hana goes to sleep on August 31. When she wakes up, Ro is gone. Ro no longer exists. No one remembers her, apparently no on has met her. Everything that has anything to do with her is gone.
